A waterfront apartment in Dumbo for a couple who wanted their home to work as well on a Tuesday night as it does at a dinner party. We arranged each room around the curved bay so the skyline stays in view from every seat. For the living area, the most comfortable sofa in the apartment, the TV set into joinery, gaming equipment that disappears the moment it's not in use. Warm white walls, the existing oak and marble, rich wood tones and industrial black accents. The bedrooms trade the open-plan energy for something lower and slower. Closets fitted to what actually gets worn. The powder room is where the apartment gets to be bolder. A footprint small enough to carry a material scheme that would overwhelm a larger room.
